如果你善待他人而期待有所回報，或希望人們仰慕你是一個菩薩，這就是一個錯誤。
這種態度與菩薩的真正發心之間有天壤之別。
你不但不應該期待任何回報，當人們忘恩負義時，你也不應該感到絲毫的困擾。
你為某個人冒了生命的危險，但那個人可能用怨懟、仇恨或傷害來回報你的仁慈。

It's a mistake if you treat others kindly and expect something in return, or if you want people to admire you as a Bodhisattva.
There is a great difference between this attitude and Bodhisattva's true intention.
Not only should you not expect anything in return, but you should not feel the slightest distress when people are ungrateful.
You risk someone's life, but that person may repay your kindness with resentment, hatred or injury.
